3rd edition of the Marrakech African Book Festival

About the event:

Supported by the WE ART AFRICA//NS association, the FLAM, destined to become a major annual artistic event, constitutes a continental first on Moroccan soil. It is intended to be primarily a literary event: literary cafés, round tables, interviews, readings, book signings, a bookshop, and youth programming.

Beyond that, the festival evenings will be punctuated by other artistic expressions: visual arts, music, dance, poetry readings, etc.

Young audiences will not be left out.

From this Moroccan land that claims its historical and current African identity, the FLAM aims to be a national event with continental reach and international scope.

It thus aims to:

  • Offer Marrakech the African a major literary festival dedicated exclusively to African literatures
  • Contribute to the cultural and artistic influence of the African continent and its diasporas
  • Encourage and promote culture and the arts and their contribution to the economic and social development of the continent
  • Promote the circulation of writers and their works within their own continent
  • Provoke meetings with a view to establishing an African community of literature
  • Highlight the different legacies and bear witness to the vibrancy of current African thought
  • Contribute to bringing together and making known the African cultures and peoples of the North and South
  • Strengthen the historical ties of friendship and exchange between the countries and peoples of Africa and its diasporas
